(Any Rundown [the movie with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson] out there?)

2016-04-13 The Letter K

“K” was a tricky one.  I took three shots in total, but this is my favorite of them and therefore my image for today’s letter.

My theme here at my Knoontime Knitting craft blog is Letterforms In Nature and the Built Environment.

Jump Out At You

Knoontime Knitting

The Letter J

I’ve noticed, in doing this project, that I’ve started seeing letterforms everywhere – the wheel wells of cars, branches of trees, even the intersections of power lines.

This one reminds me of a day I spent at the park near my house during the summer.  I reclined against a tree to meditate with my eyes closed, (you know, it’s called napping), and something made me open them.  A racoon stood not ten feet from me, and we stared at each other in shock.  He trundled away and climbed up a tree.

By the time I realized what happened, he was thirty feet away and mostly hidden.  Some photographer I was!

In my defense, racoons are, basically, bears.  Getting in a tangle with one because I’m napping in his backyard would ruin my day, y’know?  o.O…

We have some awesome stuff going on this week for you because of the RT Booklovers Convention going on in Las Vegas.  If you’re not familiar, RT is the largest romance genre event of the year, with over a thousand readers and several hundred authors in attendance for a week of workshops, parties, networking, and fun.

Not going to Las Vegas this year?  Don’t worry, Dear Reader.  I will be posting at The Romance Studio for the Staying Home Party, and I’ll have live convention reports – Tina Holland, Live at the Rio!, behind-the-scenes, interviews, and reminiscences from yours truly about RT’s past.  And just for you, Dear Reader, it will be five posts a day for six days – PLUS the challenge posts.  So there’s plenty for you to read and do this week!  Rest your eyeballs, ‘cuz you’re gonna need ’em!

Don’t miss it.  Truck on over now – plus, you can enter to win a bunch of awesome prizes, including a $100 USD Amazon store card.

There Is No I In Tree

I love these trees; and it finally occurred to me that it’s because they’re evergreens.

Though, I do wonder what the folks in the neighborhood think of me wandering around loose, photographing the local flora.

How Does Your Garden Grow?

H Is For Power – Plant Power!

2016-04-09 H

My theme here at my Knoontime Knitting craft blog is Letterforms In Nature and the Built Environment.  I’ll be exploring my daily round, looking for shapes in the natural world and built environment.

Whatever was growing here had enough strength to push its way into the fence and send up several sapling-sized shoots.  I wonder – will some enterprising gardener pull it wholesale out of the ground, or will it continue to overtake the fence until nothing remains but the botanical?

This one’s a double entendre in that it’s visually an “F” and it’s a fence.

For some reason, I found this exceedingly funny when I was out photographing.

B Is For Bush! (No, Not THAT Kind of Bush)

Knoontime Knitting

2016-04-02 Pic 1

I got home and downloaded my pictures and, for the life of me, could not remember what I’d intended when I shot this one.  Then, as I was writing about doing the challenge, I said something like, “B is for bush,” and it hit me – I must have meant bush!

Now, as I am putting my posts up, I realized it’s because it has Berries.

You know, with a B?

Sequitur much?

Okay, on that topic, I have to share a cute joke with you:

How many Zen masters does it take to change a light bulb?

Fish.

The A-Z of the Natural World – Letterforms In Nature

Knoontime Knitting

2016-04-01 KK A

I waffled on whether to do the A-Z on my craft blog, because I’m already doing it elsewhere.  But I already went out and took half the photographs for my idea, so I decided what the heck, I’m gonna throw my hat in the ring.

So here’s what I’m doing:

The A To Z of the Natural World – Finding Letterforms in Nature

Inspired by calligrapher Margaret Shepherd’s blog, I decided to take a different tack – rather than look for human-made letters around my neighborhood, I am looking for letter shapes in the natural forms made by botanicals and objects in the built environment.  Over the next month, I’ll share with you my discoveries, beginning with today:  A In a Tree.

Enjoy, and Happy A-Z!
